Severe Typhoid in Africa (SETA) Plus projects
Initiative that studies the burden, severity, and long-term effects of typhoid fever and other invasive Salmonella infections in sub-Saharan Africa. It builds on the original SETA project by expanding to more sites, age groups, and pathogens. The project combines clinical surveillance, laboratory diagnostics, and environmental sampling to gather comprehensive data. Findings from SETA Plus support vaccine introduction, guide public health policies, and strengthen disease control efforts across the region.
