Professor Ellis Owusu-Dabo is a renowned Epidemiologist, Public Health Physician, and the immediate past Pro-Vice Chancellor of KNUST. With over 300 scientific publications and recognition as one of Ghana’s top five research scientists, he has led major initiatives in pandemic preparedness, vaccine development, and non-communicable diseases.
He has held several leadership positions, including the Dean of the School of Public Health, KNUST and Director of the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research, where he secured and managed multi-million-dollar grants from global institutions such as the NIH, World Bank, BMGF, and Mastercard Foundation. His efforts have strengthened health systems, trained over 2,000 healthcare workers, and created inclusive educational programs for persons with disabilities.
As a committed mentor, Professor Owusu-Dabo has guided over 30 PhD and postdoctoral scientists, with many-especially women-advancing to key leadership roles worldwide. He is a Perelman International Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania and serves on numerous local and international boards, fostering collaborations to address Africa’s pressing health challenges.
