Shigella Surveillance Study

A facility-based, multi-country research initiative under the Enterics for Global Health (EFGH) network that tracks the incidence, serotypes, and antimicrobial resistance of Shigella infections in children aged 6–35 months. Conducted across sites in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, the study combines clinic-based enrollment with household surveys to assess both the health and economic impact of Shigella-related diarrhea. Its findings will inform future vaccine trials and provide essential data to guide public health policies on Shigella control and antibiotic resistance.
