Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine Effectiveness in Ghana (THECA-TyVEGHA)

A Phase IV, cluster-randomized controlled trial evaluating the impact of a Vi-polysaccharide conjugate vaccine in preventing typhoid fever in Asante Akim, Ghana. It involves about 23,000 children aged 9 months to under 16 years, comparing the Typbar TCV with a meningococcal conjugate vaccine across 80 clusters. The study measures both direct and indirect protection against blood culture-confirmed typhoid over a three-year period. Its findings aim to provide crucial data on the real-world effectiveness and cost-efficiency of typhoid conjugate vaccines to guide public health policy in endemic regions.
