Professor Kwame Ohene Buabeng is the Team Lead for Pharmacy Unit at the Centre and oversees Pharmacovigilance activities. A Clinical Pharmacologist and Professor of Pharmacy Practice, he holds a PhD in Drug Utilisation & Health Systems Research, an MSc in Clinical Pharmacology, and a Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons).
Professor Buabeng’s research focuses on pharmacotherapy for cardiometabolic disorders, antimicrobial use, antimicrobial resistance, and stewardship. His expertise contributes significantly to advancing evidence-based medicine and improving treatment outcomes. He has published extensively in his field and is actively engaged in national and international collaborations aimed at strengthening pharmaceutical care and promoting rational medicine use.
In addition to his academic role, Professor Buabeng serves as a Consultant for TEACH AMS ECHO in Ghana and across Africa, supporting capacity-building initiatives in antimicrobial stewardship. His work bridges research, policy, and practice, ensuring that pharmacovigilance and pharmaceutical services are aligned with global best practices.
